Roses Flower Shop Community Gratitude Workshop Series, powered by The Etiquette Series

In collaboration with Chicago’s very own, Derrick Rose, the Roses Flower Shop Community Workshops are a monthly, brand-led initiative rooted in one belief: Gratitude has the power to build confidence, connection, and community.

Designed to empower youth through creativity and reflection, each workshop blends floral craftsmanship with intentional gratitude practice with a mission is to cultivate gratitude as a practice — empowering young people to feel seen, valued, and confident through the act of creating and giving their flowers.. Participants don’t just learn how to make a bouquet — they learn how to recognize value in themselves and others.

At the center of every experience is a simple but powerful truth: Noone’s journey is singular, and life’s moments deserve to be acknowledged in real time.

The workshop follows a repeatable, modular framework that can be tailored by the audience while maintaining consistency across all communities.

1. Create

Participants are guided by a professional florist through the intentional construction of a bouquet.

They learn:

  • Flower symbolism

  • Craftsmanship and care

  • Attention to detail

  • Pride in presentation

Each participant completes and wraps their own bouquet.

2. Reflect

Every workshop includes a mandatory handwritten letter component.

Participants choose to:

  • Give someone in their life their flowers (gratitude), or

  • Give themselves their flowers (self-recognition)

Through guided prompts, they write a letter rooted in acknowledgment, appreciation, or personal empowerment.

This ritual reinforces emotional literacy, confidence, and intentional expression.

3. Present

The experience closes with a structured moment of reflection. Participants are encouraged (never required) to share excerpts of their letters, reinforcing confidence and public expression.

Each workshop ends with a simple, collective closing ritual that centers gratitude and community.

Participants leave with:

  • A handcrafted bouquet

  • A handwritten letter

  • A tangible experience of being seen
